Is it possible to live on $5 per day? I was thinking it might be a good idea to save some money for my trip, so I was thinking about my expenses… and I spend a considerable amount of money on food. Actually, I spend an exorbitant amount on it. I buy my lunch at work everyday, I eat out all the time, and it adds up. I’m guesstimating I spend at least $10 per day. Probably more. If I cut back to $5.00 / day until I hop on the airplane, I could save more than $800 in the next six months (although the next six months would be pretty crappy). So that’s where you come in.
Is it worth it to sacrifice now for later?

I voted ‘yes’ on this one however I recommend hiring a consultant on this to get you through. I don’t mean a nutritionist, I mean Andrew Bateman.
hi jeremy — i make my own lunch everyday and save massive amounts of cash. eating out just isn’t worth it. if you’re looking for more money-saving tips for your trip, check out a recent post 5 Steps To Save Like Buddha
Ha ha thanks for that! I’m going to leave the poll up for a few days, but it looks as though people seem to want me to conserve financial resources. Cheers!
$5 a day for food is definitely possible…plus food you make yourself is probably better for you.
Jeremy David, You should have people vote online whether you should eat a viniger, seurkruat and pigs feet sandwich.
Now THAT would be adventurous.
PS. Please post photos of it. I would like to see it.
