Goodbye Vancouver!

IMG_0460

Hey there!

At UVic I was known for many things… but the two that come to mind right now are my abundance of keys and my pink shoelaces, both of which I am leaving behind. Another thing I am leaving behind is my excessive amount of internet surfing. I’m subscribed to many blogs and I have no intention of sitting behind my computer in Italy being a big nerd. So Robert… I’ll leave the internet thing to you. Ian, it’s up to you to keep me up to date with the happenings of the online travel community. Ryan… well, you keep doing what you do because I love reading your blog and I can deal with three. And to the 50 something blogs I unsubscribed from. Well, so sorry.

Enjoy the next 13 hours of your life. I’m going to do my best to enjoy mine.

Here’s a video I made in the Airport. It’s boring, but I promise that they will get better.

Practicing the the WiFi Cafe thing

In a Coffee Shoppe

I thought I would practice using the Internet at a WiFi powered coffee shop, and I did… and I’m incredibly slow. I think I’ve already been here for an hour. But practice makes perfect, and I am seriously going to have to learn to speed things up.

But, I signed up to a few video sites so I can upload videos on the go. Here’s a video I made explaining how this site works. Sort of. You already know all this stuff, but to all the new people on the site it might help make more sense. Or not. I’m pretty confusing.

Anyway. I’m going to go get a dose of Sushi and diet coke. Mmmmmmm.

7 DAYS! AHHHH

Fireworks, Pepsi vs Coke, and the Pride Parade

fieworks2

Saturday night was Firework night. Super fun! I’m not the biggest fan of fireworks in the world… but I am a fan of the other 300,000 people who are. Yup - 300,000 people piled into English Bay in Vancouver. It’s pretty intense. And I must say that the last 30 seconds of the show are always the best, and I do succumb to the oohs and ahhs when something big goes off. Why don’t they just have the big ones? I’d love that. But I guess they have to keep things relative?

pride

Sunday was the Vancouver Pride Parade - where corporations celebration their gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-gendered customers. This two hour parade is the biggest parade in Vancouver and also draws a massive crowd of 300,000. I have a thing for massive mobs of people. And yes, I probably mention the words “zombie outbreak” two or three times during the course of any of these events.

I took the Pepsi challenge.

pepsi

And Pepsi won. I always thought I liked diet Coke better. Funny. I guess that goes to show how powerful advertising is… since I actually enjoy the taste of the competitors more than the brands I buy.

It seems that 3+ days in London is won, and then I am heading to Ireland which is super cool. Where should I go in the UK? I’ll start to make travel arangements now. We can figure out the day to day stuff once I’m there, but I need to book hostels and stuff starting tomorrow.
